“We are coming off two consecutive defeats, but we want to fight back and get the victory that can allow us to start the year with more enthusiasm,” said the coach in his press conference.

“I saw the lads fired up and eager to make up for the game with Crotone. We know that Torino are struggling, but also on their way back, so this is a difficult match.”

Gervinho, Alberto Grassi, Giuseppe Pezzella and Hans Nicolussi Caviglia are all out of action.

“Losing Gervinho is a big blow, as we don’t really have other players with similar characteristics. It’ll be an opportunity for those who do play to show what they can bring to the team. Aside from who plays, the important thing is the attitude, getting players into the box.”

Parma came back from the Christmas break and went straight into a training retreat to prepare for this match.

“The team needed time to get to know each other better, understand the various personalities, and it was not for punishment. I have a squad of good lads, we just need to be more consistent,” explained Liverani.

“Torino are, like us, one of the teams who changed the most over the summer and therefore had teething problems at the start. The potential of these two teams is much greater than what we’ve seen so far.

“As coaches, we try to create an identity with our teams, but in some situations it can take longer than others to complete that process. Marco Giampaolo has strong ideas and I respect him, but all of us in this line of work know we are under the microscope and depend on results.”

Parma squad for Torino: Sepe, Colombi, Rinaldi; Iacoponi, Balogh, Gagliolo, Laurini, Bruno Alvez, Osorio, Valenti, Ricci, Busi; Kurtic, Brugman, Cyprien, Sohm, Hernani, Kucka, Camara; Karamoh, Cornelius, Mihaila, Brunetta, Inglese
