D’Aversa had been heavily linked with Genoa, but Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia note that initial talks were unconvincing to both club and tactician.
Genoa’s first choice was Vincenzo Italiano, who just took Spezia to their first ever promotion to Serie A via the play-offs, but the new boys won’t release him.
Instead, the most likely candidate for the Grifone role is now former Udinese and Cagliari boss Maran.
