Referees chief Marcello Nicchi has insisted that ‘there’s little to change’ about VAR after a ‘very positive’ season of its use in Serie A.

VAR has arguably come under scrutiny more in its second campaign, with a director for Italy’s state broadcaster even claiming Juventus were in ‘control’ of the technology.

However, Nicchi told ANSA: “I’d wait for playoffs and playout before taking stock, but we have very positive feedback.

“We’re working to refine the use of technology as much as possible, but we’re at the level where there’s little to change.

“We just need to get used to it. If skill is added to the technology, we can only improve.”
