The former Azzurri Coach wasofficially unveiled earlier this month, and spoke about his hopes for the qualification campaign which kicks off against Qatar in Kunming on November 15th.

“Now me and my staff will get to work immediately," The 68-year-old told the Press. "We will try to do something which currently seems difficult, perhaps impossible.

"But in football nothing is impossible. I do not know if we will succeed, but we will give it all.

"Then we will be able to see how much Chinese football has grown. We'll try to create a team with psychological strength and sense of belonging. Wearing the Chinese shirt must give us great energy.

"We will also endeavor to build tactical organisation. I'm happy to have reached this agreement, I have always appreciated the great esteem shown for myself and my staff.

"I always thought about of being able to come back here one day. China is a great country."
