Former Italy CT Marcello Lippi expects a ‘great battle’ for the Scudetto but claims Maurizio Sarri’s tactics ‘will be useful’ for Juventus after the forced break.

Juventus sit one point above second-placed Lazio in the League and Lippi claims the champions were about to show their true selves after an initial ‘learning period’ under Sarri.

“He has the play, alright,” Lippi told Tuttosport. “When the season stopped, the learning period was about to end.

Juventus sit one point above second-placed Lazio in the League and Lippi claims the champions were about to show their true selves after an initial ‘learning period’ under Sarri.

“He has the play, alright,” Lippi told Tuttosport. “When the season stopped, the learning period was about to end.

“In the last match against Inter I saw a tactical organisation that will be useful for the second half. Sarri will be able to start from there.”

But the former Juventus coach has warned Sarri to not take anything for granted, as Lazio are proving to be a serious contender this term.

“Lazio are not to be underestimated, though,” he added. “They play very well and are charged by what they’ve done up until the stop.

“They have escaped the danger of having to cancel the championship. In addition, they have the leading goalscorer. It will be a great battle.”
