Former Italy CT and World Cup winner Marcello Lippi praised Inter for showing “personality” but claimed Juventus proved why they are “superior”.

Juventus beat Inter 2-0 behind closed doors at the Allianz Stadium last night and are back on top in Serie A and Lippi pointed out that the Nerazzurri can’t match the Bianconeri’s “quality”.

“Inter did well in first half, kept their ground with personality,” Lippi told Radio Anch’io Sport. “But they have less quality than Juventus. The difference between the two became clear.

“Juventus have always been strong; they dominated the game yesterday because they are still superior to Inter.

“I understand the disappointment of the fans, unfortunately it was right to make this choice [to play behind closed doors].”

Lippi insisted that the rules must be followed and said it doesn't make sense to postpone the League for a month if the players have to train to keep fit and still share the dressing room.

“I think there’s great confusion,” he added. “Everyone thinks about their interests. There are those who form the deputy in command.

“The government must order, make laws and enforce them. If the doctors’ advice tells you to do certain things, they must be ordered. The two teams must stop completely. It makes no sense to stop the championship if you have to train and there are always 40 or 50 people in the dressing room.”

And he claimed that this season shouldn’t be “considered valid” if they have to cancel the campaign and hopes for no further complications regarding Euro 2020.

“This kind of championship can’t be considered valid. There are 12 games missing in case of cancellation. Let’s hope there’s time to recover, there’s the European Championship. Let’s wish for all this.”
