The Blucerchiati are looking for a new Coach, having sacked Walter Zenga, and are attempting to get Montella.

However, Fiorentina have so-far been unwilling to release the former striker from his contract, following his dismissal last summer.

It was reported this morning that an agreement is close, but Tuttomercatoweb believes Samp are still considering alternatives.

As well as Marcelo Bielsa, who has previously been linked with the job, the website reports that Marcello Lippi could be an option.

The former Italy CT has been out of work since leaving Guangzhou Evergrande, but has expressed a desire to return to the bench.

The 67-year-old made over 250 appearances for La Doria during his playing career, and was given his first Coaching role in 1982, in charge of the Samp youth team.

Lippi won five Scudetti with Juventus, but is considered strictly as a backup plan, with Montella still the first choice.
