Former Italy CT Marcello Lippi has claimed Inter are ‘fully in the running’ for the Scudetto after the 2-1 win against Sampdoria.

The former Inter coach has pointed out the lack of a direct meeting with Juventus but will not rule out Inter as title challengers.

“For 15 days I have said that if Inter had beaten Sampdoria, it would have been a six-point gap and therefore they are fully in the running, even if there’s no direct clash with Juventus” he told Rai Uno.

“I think Inter are also fighting for the Scudetto.”

Juventus must bounce back against Bologna tonight, but the World Cup winner has claimed it will be a difficult task for the pressured coach Maurizio Sarri.

“A general who imposes himself ironically never gets the most out of his soldiers,” he added. “It will be very difficult for Juventus in Bologna tonight.

“But Sarri must get back to scoring and to win, otherwise their opponents will close in on them.”
