The 2006 Italy World Cup winner coached the likes of Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo, Pippo Inzaghi and Antonio Conte, just to name a few. They all won the World Cup with Lippi in charge of the Azzurri before beginning their coaching careers.

“I am proud to hear them say I was an inspiration,” Lippi told Tuttosport.

“I often think about who is the most like me and I must say that I see myself in Gattuso for his team management. We are similar for this, he often tells me the same.

“Gattuso is not only grit, he is able to organise his team very well,” Lippi added.

Pirlo and Conte will face each other in Inter-Juventus on Sunday.

“They are smart people, Conte has always been so meticulous and Pirlo’s vision was above the average.”

Is it a decisive game for the Scudetto race?

“Not in terms of points, I think it’s too early, even if Inter win, there are many games left. It could make the difference on a mental level. Inter are ahead of Juve, because this is Conte’s second season at the club and he is improving the team.

“Andrea is making a radical change and I think he is reaping the rewards of his work.

“Inter and Juventus only have a problem. They depend too much on [Romelu] Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo. Without them, their potential is not the same, but it must he said they are two remarkable champions.”
