The talent who received his maiden senior Italy call and was named in the starting XI for this trip to the Stadio Castellani with Gregoire Defrel, though Sergio Floccari, Francesco Acerbi and Luca Antei are sidelined.

Unfortunately, he had a muscular problem in the warm-up and was replaced by Matteo Politano.

Empoli fell to a surprise defeat to Frosinone on Monday and there was an even more costly outcome, as Riccardo Saponara received a three-match ban for insulting the referee.

He is therefore unavailable along with Levan Mchedlidze, Leandro Paredes, Uros Cosic and Daniele Croce.

It means Massimo Maccarone and Manuel Pucciarelli are supported by Rade Krunic, a 21-year-old Bosnian trequartista making his Serie A debut.

He only has six minutes of football under his belt with Empoli in the Coppa Italia.
