The Giallorossi are finding their form at the right time and surged into third place, but must also rest some stars ahead of the Champions League quarter-finals with Barcelona.

With that in mind, Edin Dzeko and Cengiz Under take a spot on the bench, while Schick, El Shaarawy and Diego Perotti lead the attack.

Lorenzo Pellegrini picked up a muscular problem playing for Italy against England, while Rick Karsdorp remains a long-term absentee.

Bologna are in crisis, managing one point from the last three rounds, which leaves them only 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

Goalkeeper Antonio Mirante is suspended, with understudy Angelo Da Costa injured, so third-choice Antonio Santurro is thrown in for his Serie A debut.

Not only has the 26-year-old never played in the top flight before, he’s not been in Serie B either, so his only experience is in Italy’s third division.

He’s nicknamed Batman because he always wears a jersey with the Dark Knight’s symbol.

Emil Krafth is also on the touchline, with Riccardo Orsolini not 100 per cent fit.

It’s a family affair, as Bologna winger Federico Di Francesco is the son of Roma Coach Eusebio Di Francesco.

Simone Verdi and Rodrigo Palacio are picked, once again dropping former Roma flop Mattia Destro.

Roma have an excellent away record this season, losing only one of their 14 on the road in Serie A.

They are also unbeaten at the Dall’Ara since a 3-1 result in September 2004, followed by three score draws and five victories to nil.

Bologna: Santurro; Torosidis, De Maio, Helander, Masina; Poli, Pulgar, Donsah; Verdi, Palacio, Di Francesco

Roma: Alisson; Florenzi, Manolas, Fazio, Kolarov; Nainggolan, De Rossi, Strootman; El Shaarawy, Schick, Perotti
