Spalletti is under pressure and makes changes, as ex-Roma midfielder Nainggolan is finally available after a muscular problem in pre-season.

The Belgium international is given a more advanced role with Ivan Perisic, but it’s Icardi who is missing now with a muscular problem.

Lautaro Martinez was an option as the centre-forward, but Keita Balde Diao has been given the nod instead.

Spalletti also changes in midfield with Roberto Gagliardini in for Matias Vecino, while the planned three-man defence was scrapped at the last minute for a 4-2-3-1.

Bologna have only one point from their opening two games – the same as Inter – but are yet to score a goal under new Coach Pippo Inzaghi.

Rodrigo Palacio is out injured against his old club, in the stands along with Neuhen Paz, Angelo Da Costa and Godfred Donsah.

Mattia Destro is on the bench, as Diego Falcinelli and Federico Santander again form the front two.

Inter are unbeaten against Bologna since a 1-0 result at San Siro in March 2013, managing four wins and as many Serie A draws. The last defeat at the Dall’Ara was all the way back in February 2002, emerging with nine wins and three stalemates.
