Roma CEO Lina Souloukou insists the Friedkin family don’t want to sell the club and highlights that the Giallorossi were the only American-owned club to oppose the Super League.

Roma director Souloukou spoke about Roma’s future during the European Globe Soccer Award, which is being held in Italy.

“Roma will always remain the crown jewel of this project. It’s a huge historical club with a passionate fanbase and the expectations they have,” she said.

“The city has a great connection with the club. Independently from the structure and things that can evolve, Roma will always be in the centre, and the vision, with the huge investment and involvement from the Friedkin family, is always to continue developing in the long term and place Rome even higher in the top of European and Italian football.

“When the case of the Superleague exploded, Roma was the only American-owned club to firmly oppose that project while respecting the values of European sport: meritocracy, open championships with promotions and relegations,” Souloukou concluded.

  1. What a fantastic comment. Why do any other teams even play? Why be a fan of any team that is not a giant?
