Bologna forward Jonathan Cristaldo says it is up to him and his teammates to put the recent departure of star player Alessandro Diamanti behind them.

Diamanti has left the Emilia-Romagna outfit to link up with Marcello Lippi’s Guangzhou Evergrande but the forward insists that life at the club must continue as normal.

“Diamanti was our best player, but life goes on,” Cristaldo told Corriere dello Sport after scoring twice to help his side to a 2-1 victory over Torino.

“Davide Ballardini has put his faith in me and after the game he shook my hand and congratulated me.

“I’m pleased with my goals but this is the team’s victory. I am happy, this is a very important win.

“I have finally got the chance to play in my favourite position, playing alongside a strike partner who is a point of reference for me up front.”
