Stephan Lichtsteiner comments that he is ‘talking’ with Juventus about his future, as he considers the differences between a back three and back four.

The Swiss defender has been the subject of continued speculation in recent months over his future, as talks over renewing his contract beyond the end of this season continue to drag on.

Today the player briefly discussed the point, amid recent reports that progress between him and the club has been made.

“My future at Juventus?” pondered Lichtsteiner to Sky Sport Italia today.

“We are talking about it and there is nothing more I will say.”

Lichtsteiner was more forthcoming, however, in considering the tactical reshuffle Juventus went through in midweek, which will reportedly continue over the weekend against Parma.

“Certainly I have much more of the ball, it’s easier because I have the game ahead of me and I am not turned with my back to goal.

“Then, for the centre-backs I do not believe it is a problem between a back-three or a back-four, because we are so strong – there are no doubts with three or with four.

“We have played good games with the 3-5-2, we were a bit unlucky at times, we created many chances.

“Then, I believe that between the 3-5-2 and four at the back not a lot is changed. Certainly the level of possession is much easier between four.”

The 30-year-old had words of praise for his current Coach Max Allegri, who came in this summer as a late replacement for Antonio Conte.

“Allegri is a great Coach. Whilst also as a person he has adapted quickly, knowing that it is not easy, after three League titles, to enter into an environment that is used to winning and has been for the last three years.

“For him it certainly was not easy, but he has done very well and that can also be seen on the field in how we are playing.

“I see the future of Juventus as very good, because I believe the club has a project. And so I believe that Juventus will continue to do well.”
