The Brazilian was Coach of Inter for six months after Rafa Benitez left in December 2010 and walked away because he preferred a job behind the scenes at PSG.
“I had left Paris Saint-Germain too early as a player and then came back. The same could happen with a return to Inter,” Leonardo told Sky Sport Italia.
“I have never spoken to Erick Thohir, but I am in constant contact with Inter.”
He helped transform Paris Saint-Germain into a European powerhouse with signings like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Thiago Silva and Marquinhos.
However, he resigned following a 14-month ban for pushing a referee while protesting a decision. His tenure in Paris will conclude on September 3.
It’s widely reported Indonesian magnate Thohir will buy a majority share in Inter on September 3, the day after the transfer window shuts.
Leonardo has been suggested as one of Thohir’s top targets to revamp the club.
