Lecce have announced that their first team will not be paid for March, agreeing to only receive their wages if they stay in Serie A.

“Lecce announce that, in a climate of great serenity, an agreement was reached today with all first-team members on the issues of pay and survival prize money,” read an official statement.

“The sporting director and coach, together with his staff and all the players of the first team, have given their willingness to waive their monthly earnings for March, the amount of which has been converted into prize money, conditional on the completion of Serie A and the achievement on survival.”

The Salentini also confirmed the decision was taken not to deprive any other club employees of their pay.

“By the express will of all the members involved and the club, it was also decided that all other employees and administrative collaborators, physios, kit men, kit women and all members and collaborators of the youth sector would not be asked to waive their salaries.

“The definition of this agreement, which also takes into account the fact that all the first-team members have behaved responsibly towards the club during this period of inactivity, is further confirmation of the great cohesion of the Giallorossi family.”

Lecce are 18th in the top flight, level on points with Genoa directly above them.
