The Salentini have been under the stewardship of the Semeraro family since 1994, but after they declared an interest to sell the club last summer, UniCredit have been working on a proposed sale.

La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that the Tesoro family, headed by father and son Savino and Antonio Tesoro, have come forward as prospective buyers..

Savino Tesoro is reportedly meeting representatives from the bank, current Lecce President Isabella Liguori and majority shareholder Giovanni Semeraro on Tuesday to assess the possibility of a takeover in the summer, with a rumoured preliminary agreement likely to be signed.

Whether or not the club will be relegated this season will reportedly affect the amount the Tesoros will pay at the end of the season – if they stay up then the sale is rumoured to be set at €12m, but if they are relegated then that will drop to €8m.

Since Giovanni Semeraro’s move away from an active role at Lecce, day-to-day running has been handled by sporting director Carlo Osti and general manager Renato Cipollini.
