Lecce have reportedly moved to sign Ivory Coast striker and free agent Wilfried Bony.

Bony’s agent recently confirmed holding talks with Italian clubs, and Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira writes Lecce are ready to topple the competition.

The Salentini are desperately seeking an experienced No 9 after deals for Burak Yilmaz and Kostas Manolas failed to bear fruition.

The Salentini are desperately seeking an experienced No 9 after deals for Burak Yilmaz and Kostas Manolas failed to bear fruition.

Bony, for his part, is without a club after ending a second spell with Swansea City earlier in the summer.

Prior to that, the 30-year-old was prolific in the Czech Republic and Netherlands with Sparta Prague and Vitesse.

He managed 34 goals in his first stint with Swansea between 2013 and 2015, earning a big-money move to Manchester City, but managed just 10 for the English champions.
