The much travelled Di Michele has played for Salernitana” data-scaytid=”4″>Salernitana, Udinese” data-scaytid=”5″>Udinese, Reggina, Palermo, and West Ham amongst others and is still in demand even at the age of 36 it seems.

Chievo director general Giovanni Sartori stated on Thursday that signing Di Michele, whose Lecce contract has expired, was an option.

“It’s a hypothesis we are considering. Within the next two days we will decide.”

However, new Lecce owner Antonio Tesoro, who recently bought the Apulian club from the Semeraro family, insisted the veteran frontman will stay at the Stadio Via Del Mare.

“We want David to remain with us,” Tesoro told Sky Sport 24. “He has informed us that this is his wish and we will meet next week in order to find an agreement.”

Former Italy international Di Michele scored 12 times for the Salentini in Serie A last season but was unable to save them from the drop.
