Lecce President Saverio Sticchi Damiani confirms Marin Pongracic of Wolfsburg will have his medical tomorrow, but the Samuel Umtiti loan from Barcelona is ‘a long way off being finalised.’

The Salentini have been very active on the transfer market this summer and that is nowhere near over, as they continue to pick up new players.

It was reported today that a deal had been done with VfL Wolfsburg for Croatia international defender Pongracic and that was confirmed by the patron this evening.

“Pongracic will have his medical with us tomorrow, while we’ll see what other situations will evolve,” Sticchi Damiani told DAZN.

Pongracic is a Croatia international who turns 25 next month.

He spent last season at Borussia Dortmund and his rapport with Wolfsburg has broken down completely, prompting the summer switch to Serie A.

The other situation that Sticchi Damiani mentioned is the attempt to get Umtiti on loan from Barcelona, with the Blaugrana paying his entire salary during the season and Lecce only contributing bonuses.

“We have been evaluating Umtiti for a while now, but it is a negotiation that is a long way off being finalised.”
