In order to avoid losing him as a free agent, Lazio are aiming to sell him now, so Galatasaray have the upper hand on other contenders Genoa.

In turn, the Biancocelesti are looking to Cagliari for his replacement. Federico Marchetti has been frozen out for a year over a contract dispute, but would be available for his €5.2m buy-out clause.

Lazio have been very active on the transfer market so far this summer, as German striker Miroslav Klose and Bosnian defender Senad Lulic are also expected to sign next week.
