The Birmingham Mail are reporting that former Sunderland Director of football Roberto De Fanti is lining up a bid for Birmingham City.

Should he be successful, it is also claimed that the 40-year-old would want to link the Blues to Serie A side Lazio.

It is said that any link between the pair would be similar to the one that exists between Watford, Udinese” data-scaytid=”4″>Udinese and Granada, who are all owned by the Pozzo family.

While in this instance both clubs would continue to boast separate owners, De Fanti’s status as an influential agent means he is well immersed in goings on at Lazio.

According to LaLazioSiamoNoi.com, Biancocelsti President Claudio Lotito last month met with an English delegation with a view to forging links with an unnamed club.

It would now seem that this club is Birmingham, with events next week thought to be key in determining whether the deal will go through.

Everything is thought to be dependent on the activities of De Fanti and whether his attempts to buy the Blues prove successful.
