Lazio are reportedly set to trim their squad by selling nine players, while Lucas Biglia’s future hangs in the balance.

Corriere della Sera has reported that Biancoceleste Coach Stefano Pioli has demanded a squad of no more than 25 players to work with next season.

The newspaper believes this will result in a clear-out of nine players – Lorik Cana, Bruno Pereirinha, Abdoulay Konko, Alvaro Gonzalez, Brayan Perea, Vinicius Freitas, Ederson, Antonio Rozzi and Emiliano Alfaro.

The funds raised by the sale of these players will reportedly go towards the signing of a big-name player this summer.

Meanwhile, La Gazzetta della Sport has reported that Lucas Biglia’s agent Enzo Montepaone will meet the Aquile’s sporting director Igli Tare to decide on the player’s future.

Biglia is currently on international duty with Argentina at the Copa America and the newspaper believes he is at a crossroads where he can leave for a big club or extend his contract in Rome.

Gazzetta says that Lazio President Claudio Lotito is unlikely to let the player leave for any less than €30m, with clubs such as Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid believed to be interested.

The 29-year-old’s contract runs until 2018 and the likes of Spain international Xabi Alonso, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Granit Xhaka and Mainz midfielder Johannes Geis have been touted as possible replacements should he leave.
