Ravel Morrison has reportedly returned to London, and could face a legal battle to free himself from Lazio.

The English midfielder joined the Biancocelesti on a free transfer in time for the 2015-16 season, but has never managed to hold down a regular place in the side.

Last season Stefano Pioli criticised Morrison for being unable to speak Italian and not working hard enough, but the 23-year-old impressed in pre-season this year.

However, he has been repeatedly left out by new Coach Simone Inzaghi, and Il Tempo reports that the former West Ham man hasn’t shown up for team meetings when called.

The newspaper believes that Morrison has returned to London and is refusing to step foot in Rome, as he wants to be allowed to leave in January.

For the Aquile’s part, the club is believed to be unhappy as this is not the first time that Morrison has suddenly returned to the UK.

It’s therefore expected that there will be a legal battle between the two, as the player looks to free himself from his contract.

Lazio have more to lose in many ways, as Morrison isn’t playing anyway so being tied-up in litigation for a few months wouldn’t make much difference.

The club are still hoping to make a small profit from selling the player, but that appears increasingly unlikely.
