Now La Gazzetta dello Sport insist Lazio have set a deadline, so if they don’t get the paperwork signed today, they are ready to withdraw their proposal.

It would be a three-year contract worth €4m per season, including bonuses, and perks such as a personal driver and use of a private jet to visit family in Spain.

The 34-year-old has also been linked with Napoli, Juventus and Valencia, but it’s most likely he is tempted by a big money move to Qatar.

Meanwhile, former Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores maintains Lazio would be the ideal destination for David Silva.

“He can give his best in the trequartista role, linking midfield and attack,” the coach told Tuttomercatoweb.

“I think he’d do well alongside Luis Alberto, with both supporting Ciro Immobile, as with David behind him, I think Immobile could score even more than he did this season.”
