Multiple reports in Italy claim Lazio have opened preliminary talks with Marseille to sign Matteo Guendouzi.

The Bianconcelesti are still looking for a new central midfielder after selling Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Al Hilal this summer. They have signed Daichi Kamada as a free agent and Nicolò Rovella from Juventus, but are chasing one more new signing in the middle of the park.

Il Corriere dello Sport and Calciomercato.com claim the Biancocelesti have now opened talks to sign former Arsenal midfielder Guendouzi from Olympique Marseille.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the French club have set the midfielder’s price tag at €15m. Talks between Lazio and Marseille are not at an advanced stage, but Calciomercato.com claims the player’s entourage has given its green light to Guendouzi’s move to the Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio are also interested in Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic and are working to include Toma Basic in the deal.

Guendouzi made 82 appearances with Arsenal before joining Marseille in 2021 after a one-year loan at Herta Berlin. He has scored ten goals in 102 appearances with the French club.

  1. They are both very welcome, especially the frenchman for me coz of European experience and overall I feel he us more prepared to be launched but they are both good and Samardzic has a huge future sale value.
