“The team played well against Genoa, but unfortunately the result was negative,” Liverani has commented to Tuttomercatoweb today.

“You can’t fault the players for their performance as they looked to dominate the match, but that’s football for you.”

The former Lazio man had a short-lived spell as Coach of Genoa last season and is supportive of the work Stefano Pioli is doing at the Olimpico.

“The Coach said that they have to improve in front of goal and I believe that his analysis of the match was correct,” explained the former Palermo man.

“In terms of game plan Lazio are on the right track.”

A host of new signings were brought in over the summer including Argentine defender Santiago Gentiletti, who impressed many before unfortunately incurring an injury on Sunday that has ruled him out for six months.

“All the new signings are doing well but I am sorry about the immediate injury of Gentiletti.

“Stefan de Vrij will need a settling in period because Italian football is different and right now he is finding it difficult, but he is still a good signing.”
