Former Lazio player Dario Marcolin believes the Biancocelesti are on the right track on the pitch despite recent turmoil off it.

The 42-year-old however admitted that the current stand-off between sections of the club’s support and President Claudio Lotito was not helpful to Edy Reja’s side’s chances of securing Europa League football.

“In football the important thing is to win, the three points gained on Sunday were vital,” Marcolin told LaLazioSiamoNoi.it.

“In the second half of the season Lazio’s form has been good, especially considering the atmosphere around the club.

“I am sorry about the protests because with the fans behind you, you have more chances to succeed.

“I never had to play in a stadium without the support of the fans, it never happened to me.

“The Lazio fans always give you a boost and they really can be a twelfth man on the pitch.”
