Bayer Leverkusen Coach Roger Schmidt doesn’t expect Lazio to play ‘typically Italian football’ when the sides meet tomorrow.

The Biancocelesti will face the Bundesliga side in the home leg of their Champions League play-off tomorrow evening, and Schmidt is expecting an open contest.

“Lazio are good tactically,” the tactician explained in his pre-match Press conference.

“They play well, they always give a good performance. They’re a good team, who are well-organised with dangerous players. I don’t know [Coach Stefano] Piolo personally, but I know his team.

“I like the way they play, they were successful last year, we all saw that. I don’t know him, but I’ve seen his team.

“They have to qualify, so they’ll definitely be attacking. They won’t play typically Italian football, but I think they’ll play a good game.

“I don’t think we’re favourites, Lazio are a very good team. I wouldn’t say we’re favourites.”
