Lazio have lost out on another transfer target, as it’s reported in Spain that Real Madrid forward Borja Mayoral will join Valencia.

The 23-year-old was the subject of an €8m bid from the Aquile, along with €2m in performance-related bonuses.

As with other targets, including David Silva and Vedat Muriqi, weeks go by and seemingly done deals do not get finalised.

This allows other clubs to intervene, players lose patience and Lazio are left empty-handed.

According to golsmedia in Spain, negotiations with Valencia are at a very advanced stage and they have been able to convince Mayoral.

Considering Valencia are financially crippled at the moment, it would be a loan with option to buy, or some other way of sharing ownership with Real Madrid.

Mayoral just completed a two-season loan spell at UD Levante and scored nine goals in 36 competitive games last season.
