Lazio's worries that Fernando Muslera will not renew his contract have driven the club to consider a bid for Bologna goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano.

Negotiations to extend Muslera's existing deal fell through last summer and no progress has been made since that point.

Lazio President Claudio Lotito has lost patience and is considering a bid to buy Bologna's stake in Viviano, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Viviano is co-owned by Inter, who have a long-term plan to draft the Italy international in as a replacement for Julio Cesar.
