Lazio have been hit with a partial stadium closure for their Europa League home match against Celtic after UEFA found them guilty of racist behaviour.

Lazio’s 2-1 win against Stade Rennais was investigated by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body, and it decided there were sufficient grounds to punish the Aquile.

The club will therefore have to host Celtic on November 7 with the lower half of the Curva Nord (sectors 46, 47, 48 and 49) closed off.

The part in question will have to be covered with a banner displaying the phrase ‘#EqualGame’.

Simone Inzaghi’s side have also been fined €20,000 and are ordered to play a European match behind closed doors if they commit another instance of racial abuse.

Lazio have already released a statement protesting the “deeply damaging” sanctions.
