Reports from Warsaw suggest there were very few problems other than a couple of supporters who threw bottles at riot police.
Many have told Italian newspapers they were arrested in a blind alley when thinking the police would escort them to the stadium for their own safety before the game.
Others still in prison claim they were made to sign a ‘confession’ that was written entirely in Polish and without their lawyers present.
“The news coming from Warsaw is disconcerting and leaves us speechless,” said MP Giorgia Meloni today.
“The judge ignored the pleas of his own Government by denying bail and we are still waiting to know the reasons behind the shameful preventative swoop before the game that led to the arrest of 149 Italians, including women, children and people with disabilities.”
