Just hours after a vicious war of words in which Lazio accused the CONI of “extortion,” it's confirmed they can use the Stadio Olimpico.
The battle has been raging for several months, as Biancocelesti President Claudio Lotito has refused to pay the outstanding €2m to the CONI (Italian Olympic Committee) for renting the Olimpico.
This is because Lotito maintains the contract, signed by a previous administration, needs to be renegotiated and threats to bar Lazio from using the stadium next season is tantamount to “extortion.”

However, it was announced by the CONI that the team will be allowed to play at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
“Thanks to the civil tribunal's ruling on Lazio, we have the reasonable certainty that the sum will be paid, so Lotito's club can register for the new season.”
