While Olympique Marseille insisted earlier today it was ‘not a done deal yet,’ it is now reported that Matteo Guendouzi will fly out for his Lazio medical on Tuesday.

The negotiations were at a very advanced stage and some suggested the agreement was complete over the weekend, Marseille President Pablo Longoria had put on the brakes during the press conference to present new signing Joaquin Correa.

Over 24 hours later, the situation has advanced and Sky Sport Italia claim the two clubs have now exchanged the contracts.

It means Guendouzi has the all-clear to travel to Rome on Tuesday for his medical tests.

This will be a loan for one season at a cost of €1m, with an obligation to buy for a further €12m.

There are also another €5m in easy to activate bonuses and Marseille retain a 10 per cent cut of the sell-on fee.

The 24-year-old midfielder previously played for FC Lorient, Hertha Berlin and Arsenal, until he was sold to Olympique Marseille in 2022 for €11m.
