Roque Santa Cruz has rejected a loan spell at Lazio and President Claudio Lotito insists he “understands his ambitions” for a permanent move.
The Manchester City striker seemed on the cusp of making the six-month transfer to Rome, but turned it down because of the family upheaval it would cause.
“We take into account Santa Cruz's reaction and his desire to make any transfer permanent,” commented Lotito.

The Manchester City striker seemed on the cusp of making the six-month transfer to Rome, but turned it down because of the family upheaval it would cause.
“We take into account Santa Cruz's reaction and his desire to make any transfer permanent,” commented Lotito.
“We are aware of this and consider it a wise decision for him. It's no coincidence that Lazio seek a strong rapport with their players and therefore understand his questions and ambitions.”
The Biancocelesti are therefore set to look elsewhere for a new forward during the January transfer window.
“Any reinforcements, should they be requested by the Coach, will be made to safeguard the balance that we have fought so hard to achieve and that nobody wants to alter.
“As for Stefan Radu, he is not for sale.”
The Romanian defender is said to be a transfer target for the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona.
