Ezequiel Lavezzi’s agent has moved to deny that his client is unhappy following threats made by the player’s girlfriend that he could leave Napoli.

Model Yanina Screpante revealed via Twitter this weekend that she had been held at gunpoint and robbed in Naples, before making the threat that she and Lavezzi would leave the city if she felt unsafe.

Those tweets were later deleted, Screpante apologised and Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis looked to cool the issue by stating that star man Lavezzi was happy to stay at the club.

Alejandro Mazzoni has now confirmed this and looked to put an end to any transfer speculation.

“Lavezzi has never said that he is unhappy at Napoli. Pocho is a player with everything here in Naples.

“He feels loved by the fans and I think that you see that on the field, where he gives all of himself because he feels this affection. Therefore, the relationship between the fans and Lavezzi is excellent.

“It is normal for him, life in Naples is not simple: where one cannot escape, cannot go to the movies, cannot safely go to the restaurant or take a walk with his family, who will perhaps come to Naples twice a year.

“Normal life is not simple. But he knows that this is the price that we pay to be loved, as he is, by the fans. Pocho is very close to Napoli and only thinks of winning with Napoli.”

Napoli’s sporting director Riccardo Bigon also confirmed that Mazzoni had clarified Lavezzi’s happiness to the club.

“I spoke with Mazzoni, I’m glad they specified this, it is a case that may break out without the correct facts. We are confident about the future of Lavezzi.

“He has been here for five years, so has not found it so bad. Naples is a great city. Everyone has responded well to these unpleasant episodes, of course, which should be condemned.

“Our players are great professionals people with attributes. The club is moving forward, the players are content and they train well.”
