Inter striker Lautaro Martinez was left frustrated in Argentina’s loss to Saudi Arabia, struggling to show his best according to the Italian press.

The 25-year-old forward initially seemed to be having a good game against Saudi Arabia and thought he’d doubled his nation’s advantage in the first half, before it was ruled out for offside. Another attempt was also chalked off for offside, with Saudi Arabia’s high line clearly frustrating Lautaro.

After a positive start, Lautaro seemed to slip out of the picture in the second half of the match, struggling to contribute much of note. He could do little as Saudi Arabia took a 2-1 lead and remained mostly anonymous for the rest of the match.

La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport highlighted Lautaro’s frustrations and anonymity in the second half, disappointed with his inability to make the difference for Argentina. He’ll be hoping to show an important response in Argentina’s next game against Mexico on November 26.

Lautaro’s ratings in the Italian newspapers:

Gazzetta dello Sport: 5.5

Corriere dello Sport: 4.5

Corriere della Sera: 5

Tuttosport: 5

  1. He didn’t disappear..he was there ..his arm was deemed offside ,even though, your arm cannot be deemed offside because it’s not a goal scoring part of the body .. Argentina was robbed of a goal
