There are reports of a deal worth €8m plus another €2m in performance-related bonuses for the striker who has lit up Serie B this season.

Lapadula’s arrival would open the door for Gabbiadini, who was vocal about the lack of playing time this season and struggled to make an impact during Gonzalo Higuain’s three-match ban.

Inter and Wolfsburg previously had big offers for Gabbiadini rejected, but Napoli would be prepared to let him go this summer for €20m.

Due to the lack of regular first team football, Gabbiadini found himself not even in the provisional squad for Italy at Euro 2016.
