Philipp Lahm said Germany are “one step away from letting our dream come true” in the World Cup Final against Argentina.

The legendary Maracanà in Rio de Janeiro hosts tonight’s showdown at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

“We are one step away from letting our dream come true, the goal that we all share,” captain Lahm told FIFA.

“And if you are that close, there is only one thing you can do: full concentration, focus on the moment.

“To finally be able to bring the trophy, that we have wanted for such a long time and for which we have worked so hard, back to Germany.”

This is Germany’s first World Cup Final since they lost to Brazil in 2002 and the opportunity to win their fourth trophy.
