The Polish international arrived on loan from Borussia Dortmund, but picked up an injury while representing his country.

It was initially thought that Blaszczykowski would only miss around two weeks of the season, but tests this morning have given a more disappointing prognosis.

“ACF Fiorentina announces that Jakub Blaszczykowski was subjected to a medical examination and diagnostic tests [MRI and ultrasound] this morning,” the Viola announced on their official website.

“The tests showed a Grade Two muscular lesion of the myotendinous distal in the left hamstring. The athlete has already begun treatment.

“New tests will be conducted in around three weeks to more accurately predict the resumption of physical activity.”

The recovery time for an injury of this kind would usually be between five and six weeks, making it unlikely that Blaszczykowski will return before Christmas, putting his comeback at January 2016.
