The season is over for Sampdoria’s Nenad Krsticic after he was taken out by Genoa’s Francelino Matuzalem in yesterday’s derby.

The Serbian was brought down by the Brazilian midfielder just 12 minutes into the 1-1 draw at Marassi.

Krsticic underwent scans today which confirmed ligament damage to his left ankle.

The 22-year-old, one goal in 25 League games this term, has been ordered to rest for two days. He’ll then undergo more examinations which will determine whether surgery will be needed.

Lazio’s Cristian Brocchi was ruled out for the rest of the campaign following a challenge by Matuzalem in Week 23.
