He spoke to Croatian portal Jutarnji and was asked about the on-going rumours of interest from Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and above all Liverpool.

“The papers have to write something,” shrugged the midfielder who turns 20 next month.

“I’ve learned in football that there is always something to speculate on. It doesn’t weigh on me. I have a contract until 2017, my future is with Inter and I am very happy to be a part of it.

“We have a great rapport at the club. I often speak to director of sport Piero Ausilio and really feel his support. I am young and still have time to learn.

“Becoming an Inter player has changed my life, as well as giving a new twist to my career. I am a fortunate person, so how can I complain when so many people have serious problems in the world?

“Where would I go if I left Italy? It’s a big dilemma… Spain, England and Germany are the alternatives where they play the best football, but I am happy in Italy and am sure I will be for a long time.

“When I first came to Inter, it was difficult and a real crossroads for me, but my father explained that in life and football everything can change overnight. You have to work hard and be ready when the moment comes. Sooner or later, it all settles back down.

“My father sets the example for me and told me to be patient, because difficult moments are part of life. He told me about when his mother died and how he overcame that trauma. In football, it’s much easier to get through tough times.”
