Mateo Kovacic is learning from Roberto Mancini, and says the Inter players feel guilt over Walter Mazzarri's sacking.

The new Inter Coach enjoyed a long and successful career, often in the No 10 role, and Kovacic reveals that he is already learning a lot from Mancio.

“You can see, even in the way he talks, that he’s coached at the top level,” Kovacic raved to Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He has charisma, all my teammates have been excited by his first few training sessions.

“To be coached by a former No 10 of his calibre can be good for me.

“He and I have already talked about that, he told me the tricks of the trade. When to stay, when to attack space and how to get rid of your marker.

“Mancini is already explaining to me that I have to change the way I play, even with my body and not stay away from the goal.

“Now, even though we’ve only had a few training sessions I realise I have a lot to learn. Including the fact that that I have to pay a lot of attention to the defensive side of the game as well.”

The Croatian international also looked ahead to this Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina, a game which Kovacic believes is already crucial.

“This is the game is important for us to start our recovery, kick up a gear and for our self-belief.

“This isn’t a game which is only worth three points like other matches, because if we don’t win and get the three points it’s not worth talking about.

“We just have to win, no matter who scores and then try to get some consistency in terms of results. I think we should be higher in the table.

“My teammates think so too, we feel responsible for Mazzarri’s sacking.

“My prediction? We win, and Handanovic gets a clean sheet. 2-0.”
