It was reported this morning that the Senegal international is ready to discuss a new contract, as the offers from Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are at most €60m, whereas the asking price remains €75m.

“Winning at Napoli is special and we’ll see about the Scudetto next season,” the defender told Radio Kiss Kiss after lifting the Coppa Italia last month.

“I would love to stay at Napoli for life, but I can’t make promises. I am part of the project and at the end of the season I will speak to the directors. Right now, my mind is 100 per cent on the pitch.”

Koulibaly might not necessarily remain, but he is already acting as an intermediary to convince others to join, specifically Lille striker Osimhen.

“I spoke to Osimhen, he asked me about racism in Italy and in Naples. I told him that he can relax at Napoli, the doors are wide open and he’ll see that the Azzurri fans are fantastic.”

Still in the running for fifth place, Napoli are also up against Barcelona in the Champions League Round of 16, having drawn the first leg 1-1.

“We have our chances and mustn’t get it wrong,” added Koulibaly. “Gennaro Gattuso is right, at times we lack the right mentality, but we’ll improve that aspect too thanks to his advice.”
