The defender limped off during the opening minutes of the Derby della Lanterna against local rivals Genoa, which ended 0-0 on Saturday.

A note from the club confirmed tests showed a tear to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

The medical staff and specialists have agreed to postpone surgery and instead attempt conservative treatment.
