Roma have an agreement in principle with Justin Kluivert, according to reports, but Ajax’s asking price is a stumbling block.

The winger is out of contract in June 2019, and it does not appear that he’ll sign a new deal with the Dutch club.

Yesterday Giallorossi sporting director Monchi flew to Monte Carlo, the Gazzetta dello Sport reports, where he met with Kluivert’s agent, Mino Raiola.

The basis of an agreement was found, with the 19-year-old, son of Patrick Kluivert, keen to continue his career in either Italy or Spain.

Ajax don’t want to sell him, and are demanding at least €40m to come to the table – far in excess of the €20m the Giallorossi would be willing to pay.

As a result, Raiola will have to use his relationship with the Dutch side to try and lower the price if Kluivert is to move to the Eternal City.
