The German striker’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and a renewal had looked unlikely after the World Cup winner expressed dissatisfaction over his lack of playing time.

However, La Repubblica states that Klose will play for Lazio during the visit of Genoa tonight, thereby activating a clause in his contract granting him an extra year if he plays 20 games this season.

The 36-year-old has five goals and four assists in Serie A so far this season.
