Joachim Low has today named his final squad to fly out to Brazil for this summer’s tournament and included veteran forward Klose, who needs just one goal to equal Ronaldo’s all-time scoring record at the World Cup.
Notably, the 35-year-old is Die Mannschaft’s only recognised forward. Lukas Podolski and Andre Schurrle are otherwise classified as supporting cast in attack whilst Mario Gotze played as centre-forward on Sunday against Cameroon.

“Obviously Shkodran, Marcel and Kevin are very disappointed and I understand that because they had every right to hope they would be in Brazil,” Low has commented to reporters on the news.

“It is a balanced squad and with two players available for every position.
“Our players have character and the team has character. We will travel with this squad to Brazil with a lot of confidence because we have set big targets.”
